Sometimes updates to the home are not in the budget or the home sellers don't want to tackle them. Does that mean you should not stage the home? Does staging still enhance the home's features and highlight its potential? Here are some before & afters to view and decide for yourself.

Michele -- Great Post. I am a firm believer that we as stagers make a huge difference, even if the home needs updates. A buyer needs to know the potential of how the home could look, without the upgrades, until they can afford to make the changes. If we can show them that furniture placement and decor can carry them for awhile, it's a win-win situation. Sometimes the thought of a total re-do is exhausting but if they can see themselves being able to live there for awhile it take the pressure off.
Debbie - I couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, I wish I would have explained it as well as you in my post. Thanks!
Hey Michele....how did I miss this? I am always amazed how accessories and a few great pieces of furniture can make such a difference! That fireplace was seriously ugly until you worked your magic! WOW!
Is that bathroom APRICOT? Who knew! I havent' run across that color yet....I guess it wasn't very popular in our Cincinnati area.
This is just another great reason to hire a Home Stager, You did a fab job...
Keep up the great work!
Best wishes
BB
Teresa - Thank you for your kind words. There are numerous updates that I would have loved to see implemented. Unfortunately, it was not an option. Soooo, on to plan B. . . show the home's potential.
Thanks Brian!! Even I experienced a much better feel throughout the home once the furnishings were put in place.
Love that grill in the bath, use those all the time. Nice work on all the rooms. It feels homey vs really dated in the before photos.
Thanks Terrylynn! The grills are great fillers. There is a print above the towel rack you can not see in the photograph that it coordinates nicely with.
Really nice job! I love it when you stage something and even surprise yourself with how great it now looks!
Good post, Michele. Your staging definately helped the appeal of the house and gave the buyers some ideas for working with the features.
Kathi, thank you! I knew there would be an improvement, but it exceeded my expectations. Pleasant surprise. Reaffirms why we do what we do.
Kathy, updating was out, but feeling current was important. As you said it, present the home's potential. Thanks for your comments.
Michele,
You have brought this dated home to life! I'm finding that more often than not, homeowners don't have the extra budget $$$ to upgrade dated bathrooms and kitchens. So, it always allows us as professional stagers to utilize our creative spirit in order to achieve an updated look by using our inventory of accessories and furnishings! Best wishes for a fast sale!
I've had a few of these lately...quite a challenge to add color to some of these stark pale homes.
Michele - You did a great job with staging this home!
Michele, The LR room looks more inviting now that you've added your finishing touches! You are so right when you stated "sometimes updates to the home are not in the budget", ahh... to live in a perfect staging world.
Michele - I love how you brought so much balance into the living room. This turned out great.
Congratulations. Your post is being featured in the group; Staging Before & After Pictures.
Kathy
Michelle, you are right. Often updating is not an option and we have to show the home's potential and give it an updated feel with our furniture and accessory selections.
Cindy, Working with existing colors can be a challenge at times. While I would have liked some of the rooms to be painted, I certainly have been in rooms with even more challenging paint colors.
Thank you Wanda!
Cynthia - wouldn't that be nice. It is often difficult to work with restrictions when you can visualize how great a room could be with just a few updates. Reality is we must honor our client's budget. That word "Budget" it seems to get in the way at home too!!! LOL
Kathy, Thank you for your kind words and the featured post. What a nice surprise!
Hi MIchele,
Home Staging will transform ANY house - whether updated or not! You did an amazing job with this house, and trust me, I know because I have worked on houses with out-dated kitchens and baths, but you 'revitalized' these in such a way that they actually stand out!
Kudos to you!
Val
Michele, looks great. Love that color scheme in the living room. You added just enough in every room to make it appealing.
You did an excellent job. I run into sellers which do not wan tto make any changes ( for lack of time and/or money ) and you have proved a point that staging does make a difference.
Nice work. You made all the negatives disappear which is really important. Staging really works.
Mary Lou & Susan - Thank you for your kind words!!
Michele, You did a terrific job here. Big difference without a huge investment.
Debi
