When selling a home we all know it starts at the curb. If you can't get them in, how are you ever going to sell it?
Today I would like to focus on once you get them through the front door. What do you see? First impressions are extremely important. They convey a feeling and set you up for what to expect as you tour the home. If you lose them in the important "first 10 seconds" the likelihood of recapturing them throughout the rest of the tour is minimal.
This is a before/after photo of a home in Leaf River, IL that Simply Staged worked on this week. The photo was taken from the front door. It is the important "first 10 seconds" as you enter the home.

As you can see in the "after" photo, the fireplace and hardwood floors are stunning. In fact, the hardwoods were milled from trees taken directly from the property. Too important of an feature to be lost in the photograph or covered with furniture.
If your home is currently on the market, what are your "first 10 seconds" saying?

Michele - Wow. The changes made a huge impact on the visual space of the room. Great job.
Congratulations. Your post is being featured in the group Home Staging Before & After Pictures.
Kathy
beautiful work Michele! You after shot says it all!
What a great before and after! I love the 10-second impression selling point.
Michele ~ What a fantastic illustration of the importance of "showing" the home's best features. Those floors were hidden before, and the flow was stopped cold by the furniture layout. Great post!
Great photos! You did a fantastic job - the room looks amazing!
Hi Michele,
Wow, I think 10 seconds is mighty generous! That first pic turned me off at 1.5.
The staged image is nothing short of miraculous on how it affected my attention span and interest.
Excellent post and excellent work!
~Michelle
What a great transformation Michele - you made a world of difference. Those floors are gorgeous and you didn't even notice them in the before photo. Way to go!
WOW! 5 seconds to a gorgeous room! Great job! So open and inviting!
Great example of the power of furniture arrangement.
Thank you Kathy and a special thanks for the feature :)
Thank you Karen & Holly!
The floors are even more stunning in person Maureen.
Thanks Angie!
Glad the after photo was able to keep your attention - that's what we like to hear. Thank you Michelle!
Thank you Sheila, Cathy & Beverly for your kind words!! The room is very generous in size, you just could not tell with it's furniture layout.
That furniture was like a barrier, definitely not inviting the buyer in but keeping them away. I really like the gentle angle, it's so welcoming now!
No kidding, too important of a feature...Oh MY! Wonderful transformation, and it has such impact!
So many people just cover their treasure unknowingly. You did a great job, THAT is what I would love seeing walking in the front door.
I have a moto I use at my consultations, it always gets a laugh, breaks the tension and it works. "NO STUFF ALLOWED!" (I am a huge George Carlin fan)
Michele, this is why we tell some sellers that they need to consult a stager! What a difference and curb appeal goes without saying.
So much better after your staging, Michele! All I could see in the "before" photo where those wrinkled bedsheets behind the sofa. Not the most positive first impression. After staging, now I see a beautiful hardwood floor and fabulous fireplace.
Brilliant work!
Beautiful work ... and beautiful floors. Nice job of bring the focus back to the room.
It looks beautiful Michelle. So much better, so much more inviting, great job.
wow, sooo much better! beautiful work!
Thanks Cathy, Cherly & Ana!!
So glad you are utilizing stagers in your area Caren!
Thanks Diana! The floors were stunning in person too.
Thank you Sassy & Liz!
I appreciate the kind words Chrissie & Margaret!
Michele, this is such a great and easy way to quickly show sellers and agents how dramatically Staging can affect those all-important first impressions for their listings. Great post!
I remember when looking at houses if the outside was a turn off I was interested in the inside.
Great job! What a difference you made in this space!
